I’ve been menstruating for 20 years, that’s 260 menstrual cycles. You’d think a person would get used to it by now… And yet I’m still surprised every time. By the mood swings and thoughts, by the pain, by the hormonal changes. By how menstruation is viewed in Western society, that it’s still a taboo, how little we know about it, how slow the progress of scientific research on the female body is. The riso prints I am exhibiting shows the course of my menstruation day by day, or at least its current course; it has already changed and will certainly change again. I might have another 20 years of menstruation ahead of me.

Veronika Homolová is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. Alongside her creative practice, she works at the ArtMap bookstore and a café in Prague's Holešovice district. In her personal work, she is currently focused on two themes: cosmogony and the human body, both of which she finds deeply fascinating and inspiring.
