Inspiration for the Sit like a lady series comes from phrases that circulate between generations of women in our family, things I hear my mother say to my daughter. Between care and correction, a simple question arises: how does a girl actually sit?

Ilona Polanski is an art director, illustrator, and co-founder of the Tomski&Polanski studio based in Prague. Her portfolio includes illustrations for the Czech edition of the Harry Potter books, as well as projects for Škoda, Google Doodles, Tour de France Femmes, and Pilsner Urquell. Her work accompanies every edition of Reportér magazine, has been featured on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, and regularly appears in publications such as Elle, Mladá fronta DNES, and Lidové noviny.
